Installing and Running Add-Ins

 

An add-in always starts with either a GISDK macro or a dialog box. To install an add-in, the name of the GISDK macro or dialog box needs to be listed in the add-ins.txt file. Maptitude provides a way for you to install and manage your add-ins. For information on using interfaces to install and run custom applications, see Installing and Running Custom Applications.

 

To Install Add-Ins

  1. Choose Tools>Setup Add-Ins to display the Setup Add-Ins dialog box.
  2. If you want to put the add-in into a new folder, click New Folder and type a name in the Description text box.
  3. Click Add to create a new add-in entry.
  4. Click the appropriate Type radio button, based on whether you are installing a GISDK macro or a dialog box.
  5. Type a description of the add-in in the Description text box. This description will be shown in the Tools>Add-Ins sub-menu.
  6. Type the name of the GISDK macro or dialog box in the Name text box. The name must be exactly the same, including capitalization, as the name of the GISDK macro or dialog box in the resource file.
  7. Click Browse to browse for the UI Database that contains the add-in, or type its name in the UI Database text box.

Just type the filename of the UI Database

A folder within the Maptitude folder

Add the relative pathname to the filename of the UI Database

Another folder

Use the full pathname and filename for the UI Database

  1. To put the add-in into a folder, choose a folder from the In Folder drop-down list.
  2. Click OK.

Maptitude saves your changes.

 

To Manage Add-Ins

  1. Choose Tools>Setup Add-Ins to display the Setup Add-Ins dialog box.
  2. Make choices as follows:

Create a new folder

Click New Folder and type a name in the Description text box

Move an add-in to a folder

Highlight the add-in in the Add-ins tree view and choose a folder from the In Folder drop-down list

Move an add-in out of any folder

Highlight the add-in in the Add-ins tree view and choose None from the In Folder drop-down list

Edit an add-in

Highlight the add-in in the Add-ins tree view and make changes in the Settings frame

Change the order of folders

Highlight a folder in the Add-ins tree view and click Move Up or Move Down

Change the order of add-ins in a folder

Highlight an add-in within a folder in the Add-ins tree view and click Move Up or Move Down

Remove a folder

Highlight the folder in the Add-ins tree view and click Remove

Remove an add-in

Highlight the add-in in the Add-ins tree view and click Remove

  1. Click OK.

Maptitude saves your changes.

 

To Run an Add-In

  1. Make a choice as follows:

To do this...

Run a recently-used add-in

Choose the add-in from the list below the Tools>Add-Ins command

Run an add-in not in a folder

Choose Tools>Add-Ins, then choose the add-in from the sub-menu

Run an add-in in a folder

Choose Tools>Add-Ins, choose the folder from the sub-menu, then choose the add-in from the next sub-menu

Maptitude runs the add-in.
