Tech Tip:
Using Themes to Show More Than One
Field of Data for Points on a Map
Maptitude 6.0 provides many tools that allow you to thematically visualize and differentiate your data. These include thematic maps and selection filters. The Map Theme tools support several types of theme on each map layer, allowing data to be categorized based on more than one field, such as revenue by store type. The following steps walk you through this task: 1. Work through the Tech Tip in the August 2010 Maptitude Newsletter. Once you have completed these steps, you will have applied a pattern theme to a point layer of your data. 2. Choose Map-Color Theme from the menu; choose the Field you want displayed in the legend; choose List of Values as the method for category/type data, or Optimal Breaks for numeric data; choose a number of classes, and click the Style tab. Click Next >> on the style tab to choose the Color Set that you prefer. 3. Click OK. Each location is represented as both a color and a letter in the map, which is also listed in the legend with the corresponding feature name/identifier. 4. In the Display Manager, click on the plus symbols for Your Data layer to view the Theme styles. You can click on each theme class style icon to change individual styles. |
