|
With
Maptitude 2013 you can save
your shortest route paths
as selection filters.
In the Shortest Path Toolbox

Path; requires
a line layer such as
Street
to be the working layer)
you can click the
Options
button and choose a
Selection Set
under Output Options.
You can now create routes
using this tool and then
see the routes as selected

Tech Tip:
Using the Shortest Path Toolbox
to Save Routes as Selection Sets |
The best route can mean different things to different people.
To some people, the best route is the one that is shortest
in terms of mileage while to others, the best route is the
fastest route. You use the Shortest Path toolbox in Maptitude
to find your best route. In Maptitude 2013 you can now view
the resulting routes as a selection set to allow you to
save them as part of your Workspace, and to better manage/modify
the paths.
The
following steps illustrate these new features by walking
you through creating routes with the selection option in
Maptitude 2013:
-
Choose File-New, choose
Map from the New File dialog box, and
click OK to display the Maptitude Create-a-Map Wizard.
-
Choose the General Purpose Map option,
choose Postal/ZIP Code from the scroll
list, type a postal/ZIP Code in the Name
box, and click Finish.
-
Choose Street from the drop-down list
on the Standard toolbar to make Street the working layer.
-
Choose Tools-Routing-Shortest Path
or click
on the Standard toolbar to display the Routing toolbox.
-
Choose Length from the Minimize
drop-down list.
-
Click Options to display the Shortest
Path Options dialog box, choose Selection
from the Selection Set drop-down list,
and click OK.
-
Click
,
then click on the map for your starting location and
again for your final destination. Maptitude displays
the shortest distance route between the two locations
where you clicked.
-
Click
.
Maptitude clears the route.
Maptitude displays your final route as a selection set in
the map.
