Mapping, GIS, & Transportation Software Solutions |
LONDON, ENGLAND (UK) -
Today, innovative location technology,
what3words, has announced a
new partnership with Maptitude
mapping software. This integration will allow Maptitude users to
easily incorporate what3words addresses into their maps and spatial
analysis workflows.
Traditional street addresses often fall short when it comes to pinpointing precise locations: postcodes cover vast areas, large buildings and warehouses may have multiple entrances, and rural areas, such as beaches or fields, lack an address altogether. This creates significant logistical challenges for businesses, leading to costly delays and hindering innovation. Maptitude mapping software makes spatial data accessible and easy to visualize, however searching and inputting exact locations without an accurate address requires the use of GPS coordinates, which are prone to human error.
what3words provides a simple solution. The system has divided the globe into a grid of 10ft x 10ft squares and assigned each one a unique combination of three words: known as a what3words address. This means every apartment building entrance, parking spot, street corner and viewpoint along a remote hiking trail has its own unique and easily-communicable address. For example, the entrance to Maptitude headquarters in Boston can be found at ///drum.palm.live. what3words technology is available in over 60 languages to date, and is free to download for iOS and Android, or use via the online map at what3words.com.
Maptitude users are now able to display and search for precise what3words addresses on a map, and can even build lists consisting of what3words addresses, making route planning, business analysis, and sales territory mapping even more efficient. This integration ensures any mapped location can be easily visualised and analysed with a simple what3words address – providing users with unmatched location precision.
Chris Sheldrick, Co-Founder & CEO of what3words commented: "Maptitude users can now access what3words' precise and human-friendly addressing system to enhance the quality of their location data. We're confident this integration will bring greater accuracy and efficiency to businesses and organisations around the world."
"Maptitude is committed to providing our users with the most advanced and flexible mapping tools available," said Caliper Corporation VP, Stewart Berry. "Integrating what3words into our software gives our customers a powerful new way to work with location data and communicate precise geographic coordinates."
The what3words integration is available in Maptitude 2024 and later versions. To learn more, visit https://www.caliper.com/learning/how-can-i-create-a-what3words-map/.
