For National Pizza Day (February 9) we examined over 87,000 pizza restaurants in the United States to determine the most common in each state. It is not surprising that Pizza Hut and Dominos (over 6900 locations each as of October 2024) are dominant in most states, but several other large chains still have a strong presence, most notably Hunt Brothers (over 3600 locations) in the Southeast and Little Caesar's (over 4800 locations) in Michigan, Utah, and the Virgin Islands. We also determined the concentration of pizza restaurants in each state.
