For National Pizza Day (February 9) we examined over 87,000 pizza restaurants in the United States and computed the number of pizzerias per 100,000 population in each state. The national average is 26.1 pizza restaurants per 100,000. The highest concentrations can be found in Puerto Rico (42.6), West Virginia (40.0) and Pennsylvania (39.0). We also determined what is the most common pizza chain in each state.
